De toro bravo, an ancient breed of bulls, is in danger of disappearing faster than the ice caps in Greenland. The paradox is that animal rights are at the root of this process. 

In the media, the judgment and coverage is sometimes very brief and superficial. The fact that the corrida is part of a deep-rooted culture in Spain, the south of France and some countries in Latin America is not discussed. A whole world of different customs, professions and events is ignored.

The stakes are high and the chances of survival are slim. This very personal account gives a good picture of what is happening in the mundo taurino.

Eric Corin is a cultural philosopher and social scientist, professor of Urban Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, also studied biology, psychoanalysis and sculpture, active in many councils and associations, author of over 300 publications, cosmopolitan urbanite.
